Villanova scored the final six goals of the game, holding Hofstra scoreless for the final 25 minutes, to rally for an improbable 8-6 victory. The Wildcats scored just two goals in the first 41 minutes of action as Hofstra goalie Mac Gates was spectacular. Gates finished the game with 17 saves, but Villanova, which outshot Hofstra 52-17 in the game, finally broke through late in the third quarter. Matt Campbell scored three of Villanova's six goals in the game-closing run and finished with a game-high four. Patrick Daly added three goals for the Wildcasts and Justin Coppola won 13 of 17 faceoffs. Justin Sykes led the Hofstra offense with two goals and an assist.
