Stony Brook opened America East play with its best defensive effort of the season, beating UMBC 7-6. Stony Brook held UMBC scoreless for the first 22 minutes and the Retrievers put just 12 of 37 shots on cage in the game. Jack Walsh and Wayne White each scored twice for Stony Brook.
