In a season in which Pat Kavanagh has burst onto the scene, put his name into the thick of the Tewaaraton race and made the improbable look routine, the Notre Dame sophomore attackman managed to outdo even himself this past Saturday.

Kavanagh broke the Notre Dame single-game points record (a record he already held) with five goals and five assists, as the Fighting Irish defeated Syracuse 22-8. It was the most goals Notre Dame had ever scored against the Orange.

In the process Kavanagh, the US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Player of the Week also eclipsed the Fighting Irish single-season assist record (34), which was held by his older brother and Notre Dame great Matt Kavanagh.

Pat Kavanagh earned player of the week honors earlier this spring for his four-goal, five-assist outing in an 18-11 win over Syracuse in the Carrier Dome that included another jaw-dropping highlight goal.

He is the only two-time honoree so far this season.
