In a surprising 12-10 upset of then-No. 2 Maryland, unranked Big Ten rival Ohio State got a standout performance from junior Jack Jasinski.

He posted a team-high and career-high seven points on two goals and five assists to become the Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week, while also doubling his season assist total in one game.

Jasinski opened the game’s scoring with a goal less than two minutes in, followed by an assist about a minute later in Ohio State’s 3-0 run.

After the Terps evened the score at the 3:07 mark, Jasinski ended the first quarter with one more assist to Collin Chell to hand the lead back to the Buckeyes.

Maryland went ahead 5-4 in the second quarter, but Jasinski brought Ohio State back into the game with another assist, this time to Tre Leclaire, to tie it at five.

Connor Kelly took the Terps up with 1:49 left in the half, but again, Jasinski assisted to knot it at six entering the break.

At the end of the third quarter, Ohio State had a one-goal advantage, but Maryland started the fourth period with an Anthony DeMalo score to tie it once again, 9-9.

The Buckeyes responded with one final push, scoring three straight goals, featuring two points from Jasinski (one assist and one goal) that took them up 12-9 with 33 seconds remaining.

Kelly scored one last time for the Terps 11 seconds later, but Ohio State’s effort held strong for the victory, which bumped them into the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20 at No. 19.
