Northwestern could not have asked for a better start to the post-Selena Lasota era.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 4 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20, defeated Duke 24-20 at Koskinen Stadium on Sunday. Two days earlier, they poured in 30 goals against Detroit Mercy.
Two games. Fifty-four goals.

Lindsey McKone led the onslaught Sunday, scoring five goals and adding two assists for a seven-point performance. Izzy Scane added five goals, Lauren Gilbert had four goals and two assists and Megan Kinna finished with four and one, respectively.
Northwestern (2-0) scored the first eight goals of the game and held a comfortable lead for most of the afternoon. Duke (1-1) scored six goals in the final 5:37.
Both teams shot at a blistering pace and for a high percentage, with Northwestern finishing 24-for-42 (57.1 percent) and Duke shooting 20-for-50 (40.0 percent).
Catriona Berry and Katie Cronin each finished with a four goals and four assists for the Blue Devils. Caroline DeBellis added two goals and five assists, while Maddie Jenner had three goals, three assists and a game-high 16 draw controls.
