Outwit, outplay, outlast. Former UMass Lowell player Noelle Lambert will be doing those three things on Season 43 of the hit reality show “Survivor.”

Lambert, who lost her left leg above her knee in a moped accident in 2016, is one of 18 contestants on the new season of the long-running show, as announced Wednesday. Season 43 begins with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, September 21, at 8 p.m. Eastern. The season takes place in Fiji.

“I’m scared to death,” Lambert said in the trailer. It's definitely going to be the hardest challenge of my entire life.”

Lambert returned to the lacrosse field in 2018 and scored an inspirational goal while wearing a prosthetic during her return to UMass Lowell. Last year, she set an American record for the 100 meter in her classification in the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Lambert has also founded the Born to Run Foundation to help other athletes like her who want to continue their athletic pursuits as amputees.

Noelle was a Division I college lacrosse player before a moped accident caused her to lose her left leg above the knee. A year after the accident, she successfully returned to lacrosse, and then got into track and field. She competed in the Tokyo Paralympic Games, setting a new American record for the 100 meter for her classification group.

“I don’t want people to look at me and see that I’m broken,” she said in her intro video. “I want people to look at me and be inspired and motivated … I’m gonna be the first amputee to ever win the game of Survivor.”
