McCabe Millon, ranked as the top recruit in the Class of 2023 by Inside Lacrosse, told IL's Ty Xanders Monday night that he will play collegiately at Duke.
“For me, it was the combination of an unbelievable academic opportunity — which for me, has always been really important — along with Duke’s winning tradition under an unbelievable coaching staff there,” Millon told Xanders.
Both of his parents — Mark Millon and Erin Brown Millon — are National Lacrosse Hall of Famers. They’re the only husband-wife tandem to be enshrined in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame after both left their marks on U.S. national teams. Their son also wore the red, white and blue with the USA Select U15 team in 2019.
At Duke, Millon will wear No. 9, the same number his father wore at UMass and with the U.S. national team.
Millon enters his senior season at the McDonogh School (Md.), where he notched 28 goals and 26 assists in 12 games last spring. He spent the entire summer recovering from a hand injury he suffered in the first game of the summer circuit.
According to Inside Lacrosse, Duke already boasts the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 recruits in the class — midfielder Benn Johnston (Avon Old Farms, Conn.), LSM Mac Christmas (Georgetown Prep, Md.) and midfielder Tomas Delgado (Brunswick, Conn.), respectively.
Millon, a star attackman, will join an offense at Duke that features another former No. 1 commit in Brennan O’Neill.
