For the first time this season, there’s a new team at the top of the Nike / US Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20.
With a 12-9 win over former No. 1 Lindenwood in Sunday’s GLVC championship game, Indianapolis has claimed the top spot in the ranking for the first time in the poll’s history. The Greyhounds avenged their only loss of the season, 10 days ago at Lindenwood, by scoring the first four goals of the second half to seize control in Sunday’s GLVC final.
It’s likely that the two GLVC rivals will meet for a third time this season when the selections for the NCAA tournament are announced on Sunday. Naturally, both teams remain among the top-ranked squads in the Midwest Region.
A number of conference tournaments continue this week involving ranked teams. League champions will be crowned in the NE10, PSAC, RMAC and ECC, among others. Monday’s schedule includes four games in the NE10 tournament, including No. 2 Le Moyne hosting New Haven and No. 13 Adelphi meeting No. 19 Pace. Wednesday’s schedule features No. 4 West Chester hosting No. 7 East Stroudsburg in the PSAC tournament.
This year’s modified 12-team NCAA tournament field, featuring three teams from each of the four regions, will be announced on Sunday, with first-round play beginning on Friday, May 14.

Mercy (+4)
The Mavericks have been flying under the radar for much of the season but captured their ninth straight win and avenged their only loss of the year by defeating previously undefeated Roberts Wesleyan 12-6 on Saturday. Erin Shimborske and Briana Corace led the way for Mercy with four goals apiece. The victory secured the top seed for Mercy in this week’s four-team ECC championship tournament.
Regis (+2)
The Rangers are the No. 1 seed for this week’s RMAC tournament after adding two more wins and finishing 8-0 in RMAC play this season. Regis carries a 12-game winning streak into the conference tournament and hopes to secure one of the coveted NCAA tournament slots in the Midwest Region by claiming the RMAC postseason title.

Roberts Wesleyan (-4)
The Redhawks suffered their first loss of the year and had their 13-game winning streak dating back to last year snapped with Saturday’s loss at Mercy. They also had their lowest scoring output since 2019 in the 12-6 setback. Having now split their two meetings in 2021, there’s a strong likelihood that RWC and Mercy could meet for the rubber match in the ECC final later this week.
Tampa (-3)
The Spartans could have significantly strengthened their NCAA tournament credentials with a win over Rollins last week but fell short 14-8. Tampa has one more chance to add another top-20 win to its plate when it closes the campaign against No. 11 Florida Southern Friday.
