After becoming the first women’s team from a service academy to advance to the NCAA final four, Navy women’s lacrosse embarks on the 2018 season with a solid roster, returning nearly every dynamic player that made an impact in its first-ever semifinal under Hall of Fame coach Cindy Timchal.

The Midshipmen’s statistical leaders from every category are back – leading scorer Jenna Collins, assist leader Kelly Larkin, draw specialist Julia Collins, scrappy defender Blake Smith, who tallied the most caused turnovers, plus starting keeper and ground ball leader Ingrid Boyum.

Only one of its top seven scorers, all who scored in the double digits, graduated (Morgan Young).

This weekend, Navy will test its 2018 roster, which features 13 freshmen, in its annual fall invitational. The Mids welcome Arizona State, Boston University, Coastal Carolina, Drexel, George Washington, James Madison, Louisville, Ohio State, Penn State, San Diego State, St. Joe's, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech to Annapolis.

Arizona State will also get a good look at its roster, whose players will compete in its first season in 2018 in the Pac-12, which is also the first season for the power five conference. Sun Devils head coach Courtney Martinez Connor returns to the coaching world after a career as a lacrosse analyst for the Big Ten Network and ESPN. Navy’s tournament is ASU’s first fall competition.

Most games will take place at the Naval Academy on Rip Miller Field and Farragut Fields. The Mids will also play two games on Sunday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium against fellow 2017 final four contender Penn State and CAA standout James Madison.

A full schedule is listed below and is also on NavySports.com.
