USA Select Teams Claim Fifth Straight Brogden Cup Title
SPARKS, Md. — The USA Select U16 and U18 boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams capped off a perfect 2024 Brogden Cup with four more wins Sunday to claim the trophy for the fifth straight year.
The four teams combined to go a perfect 16-0 over the weekend, during which USA Lacrosse hosted 24 games and several additional exhibitions featuring top high school and youth athletes from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Ontario and Japan.
The Brogden Cup uses a Ryder Cup-style points system to determine a single winner encompassing all four divisions. USA Lacrosse has taken home the hardware every year since instituting the National Team Development Program in 2019 and hosting the event at its headquarters in Sparks, Md.

USA Select teams improved to 70-2 all-time in the competition.
Once again Sunday, it was the Haudenosaunee’s U16 boys who came closest to upsetting a USA Select team, as the U.S. needed a pair of fourth-quarter goals to eke out a 4-2 victory.
Haudenosaunee goalie and team MVP Ryder Johnson proved difficult to beat throughout the tournament but especially Sunday. He had four saves against USA after making six saves in a 4-4 tie with Team Ontario earlier in the day.
Each team named MVPs as part of closing ceremonies. For the Brogden Cup-winning USA Select teams:
- Midfielder Ava Findora scored six goals in four games and twice led the U16 girls’ team in draw controls.
- Attacker McKenzey Craig finished the weekend with six goals and four assists for the U18 girls’ team.
- Goalies Jett Take and Will Kovacs shared co-MVP honors for the U16 boys’ team, backstopping a stifling defense that allowed just nine goals combined in four games (2.25 goals against average).
- Faceoff specialist Caleb Caldwell was a workhorse for the U18 boys’ team, finishing 50-for-58 (86 percent) and scoring a pair of goals.
