Nat St. Laurent knows what it's like to be a black man in America, and he's ready to speak out and inspire change. The son of a black father and white mother, St. Laurent's youth teammates' comments about his race almost caused him to leave the sport entirely.

St. Laurent eventually came back to the sport when he was a teenager and built a career of it. The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse coach recently took the helm of the PLL's Redwoods LC. He's one of the most prominent African American coaches in the game.

In the wake of George Floyd's death and ensuing protests, St. Laurent was one of the first in the lacrosse community to speak out. Two weeks after that pivotal moment, he talked with Paul Carcaterra about his identity and what this community can do to make sure racism has no place in lacrosse.
