Following the departure of Devon Wills, who took a head coaching position at Harvard, and Amanda Johansen, who was named an assistant at Hofstra, Trojans head coach Lindsey Munday announced Monday the additions of Katie Hertsch and Deemer Class as assistants.

"I am thrilled to welcome Katie and Deemer to our staff," Munday said. "They each bring a wealth of experience that will benefit our program tremendously. I have had the opportunity to play with Katie on Team USA and know her passion and determination firsthand. I am excited for her to bring that to our defensive unit. Deemer has had success in both college and beyond. He brings a new perspective that will help our offense get to the next level. I am so happy to welcome them to the Trojan Lacrosse Family."

Hertsch, who most recently served as an assistant at Rutgers for five years (2014-18), comes to USC after helping the New England Command win the inaugural WPLL championship this summer.

She was also a UWLX All-Star in 2016 with the Philadelphia Force and a defender for the U.S. women's national team from 2010-15, serving as an alternate when Team USA won gold in 2013. Hertsch previously had stints as an assistant at Hofstra and Boston University after graduating from Hofstra among the top 10 in career ground balls (138), caused turnovers (70) and draw controls (110).

Class, a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion (2013, 2014) out of Duke, begins his coaching career after graduating in 2016. He currently holds the program's midfielder single-season record for goals (50) as one of just six men's lacrosse midfielders in NCAA history to score that many goals in a season.

After finishing his career with 134 goals and 201 points, MLL's Atlanta Blaze selected Class in the second round of the 2016 draft before being traded to the Charlotte Hounds, Chesapeake Bayhawks and then back to the Blaze. This past season, Class set a franchise record, leading the league with five two-point goals, while also tallying 30 points.

USC enters its seventh season after recording a 10-8 record in 2018, falling in the Pac-12 semifinals 15-14 to champion Stanford. The Trojans finished third in the first-ever season for the league.
