The hay is in the barn for many of the teams in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20, but there’s still work to do for a few others entering the final week of play before the NCAA tournament berths are announced.
Last week, No. 1 Queens (SAC), No. 2 UIndy (GLVC) and No. 7 Grand Valley State (GLIAC) all secured conference championships as expected, while No. 9 Florida Southern defeated top seed Tampa to win the SSC title.
Additional championships will be decided this week in the PSAC, with three strong contenders in No. 4 East Stroudsburg, No. 5 West Chester, and No. 11 Seton Hill; in the NE10, with No. 6 Adelphi, No. 8 Stonehill, and No. 10 Le Moyne among the favorites; and in the RMAC and ECC, where No. 3 Regis and No. 16 Mercy, respectively, are the two favorites.

Florida Southern (+3)
The Mocs have been an afterthought for much of the season, hovering around the top ten but somewhat overlooked in their own conference with the emergence of new contenders this season. But in the end, FSC ended up in its customary position in the Sunshine State Conference, winning its fourth league title. The Mocs completed their championship run with back-to-back victories over No. 15 Rollins and No. 11 Tampa.
Mercy (+3)
The Mavericks extended their winning streak to six straight with victories over Bridgeport and St. Thomas Aquinas last week, and in the process, secured the top seed for the East Coast Conference Tournament for the third straight year. Mercy begins its chase for the ECC title when it hosts fourth-seeded D’Youville in the semifinal round on Thursday.
Queens (no change)
The Royals have been the No. 1 team in the ranking since mid-March and remain in the top spot again, but after claiming their eighth straight South Atlantic Conference championship in dominating fashion and running their record to 19-0 overall, it’s hard to ignore them as one of our “HOT” teams. Queens will undoubtedly be the top seed in the NCAA tournament’s South Region and seems primed for a return trip to the final four.

Lindenwood (-4)
The defending national champs suffered their most lopsided loss since 2011, losing 14-5 to No. 2 UIndy in the GLVC Tournament’s championship game. The Lions fell behind 7-1 by halftime and never regrouped. Ranked fourth in last week’s NCAA regional rankings, Lindenwood hopes to remain in the top four to secure a postseason invite and vie for a second straight NCAA title.
Tampa (-3)
After winning eight of their last nine and securing the top seed in the SSC Tournament, the Spartans ran out of steam in the championship game, losing 20-10 at home against Florida Southern. Tampa will now wait to see if they receive one of the South Region’s four spots for the NCAA tournament.
