Major League Lacrosse unveiled its new logo Thursday night, the first and most visual byproduct of an extensive rebranding effort the league launched in the fall.
The logo features the white silhouette of a player in movement from left to right, with red and blue text — a color scheme that aligns with larger professional sports leagues like MLB and the NBA. The silver gradient of the shield and asymmetrical design are distinctive to MLL, which for the first time in its nearly 20-year history is positioning itself against another professional field lacrosse product with the advent of the Premier Lacrosse League.
MLL worked with Troika/Mission Group — a global brand experience firm known for its work with ESPN, EA Sports, PGA, Sony and Amazon — and solicited input from players and fans in developing the new logo. It replaces the lacrosse head-shaped blue, green and white shield with which the league has identified since its inception in 2001.
The league also unveiled its new website.
The new-look MLL will be on display Saturday in Charlotte, N.C., site of the MLL Collegiate Draft.
