Major League Lacrosse formally announced its move to a single-entity league on Wednesday.

The new league model, which function as a unified ownership group — i.e., no traditional franchise ownership groups — was made to “build a stronger league for the future,” according to an official release.

Among the new developments for the league’s 20th season is the “relocation of select teams, thus streamlining the league and creating the greatest opportunity for additional investment.”

Chris Jastrzembski of College Crosse reported Tuesday evening that the Blaze will move from Atlanta to Philadelphia. The MLL’s official release did not confirm the report. Based on the wording of the release, it’s possible that other teams will be on the move as well.

Major League Lacrosse also announced that its season will begin on May 30.
