Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix For Friday, May 26

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The biggest weekend of the lacrosse calendar is upon us. It’s Championship Weekend, folks.

Let’s start with today’s action.

The Division I Women’s final four gets underway this afternoon in Cary, N.C. — featuring Northwestern, Denver, Syracuse and Boston College. Click here for a full preview of the biggest stage in women’s lacrosse.

The Division III women’s semifinals also take place later today in Salem, Va., with Middlebury facing off with Franklin & Marshall and William Smith battling Gettysburg. Click here for more information on the Division III championship.

On the men’s side, the Division I final four kicks off on Saturday afternioon in Philadelphia. We’ll have plenty of coverage on USALaxMagazine.com, but here’s an A-to-Z primer to get you prepared for this weekend.

The Division II and Division III men’s champions will also be crowned at Lincoln Financial Field this weekend. Stay tuned for more coverage from Sunday’s title games.

2. The USILA named its Division I men’s and women’s All-Americans on Thursday.

Headlining the men’s class was Outstanding Player of the Year Brennan O’Neill, who was one of three players from Duke on the First Team. Virginia also boasted three players on the First Team. Click here for the full list.

The women’s First Team featured three players from Syracuse (Meaghan Tyrrell, Emma Ward and Delaney Sweitzer) and Boston College (Belle Smith, Jenn Medjid and Sydney Scales. Click here for the full list.

3. The PLL dropped major news Thursday concerning location-based teams.

Starting in 2024, the league plans to assigned cities to each of its eight teams, although the touring model will remain in place. Click here to learn more about how the league will shift its schedule next summer.

4. Steve Aoki at the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship? It’s happening.

World Lacrosse announced that the world-renowned EDM artist will perform at halftime of the opening game, featuring the U.S. and Canada. Click here to learn more.

In other good news, World Lacrosse has officially added Brazil as its 86th member nation.
