Another test, another stellar passing grade for the surprising Michigan Wolverines.

Coming off of last year’s 7-10 record in Hannah Nielsen’s first season as the head coach at Michigan, the Wolverines continue to silence the doubters. No. 9 Michigan improved to 13-0 with a 16-11 victory over No. 15 Johns Hopkins.

Sophomore Caitlin Muir had a career-best six goals and her lone assist was her 17^th of the season, tying Michigan’s school single-season record.

Johns Hopkins controlled the early part of the game and led 5-2 after a goal by Nicole DeMase with 10:21 left in the first half.

Michigan responded by scoring five straight goals and never trailed again. Muir scored three of the five goals during the run.

The Blue Jays got back within one , down 9-8 midway through the second half, but back-to-back goals by Michigan’s Maggie Kane just 38 seconds apart helped the Wolverines pull away.

Kane finished with four goals and two assists and Lilly Grass had a goal and three assists for Michigan (13-0, 3-0 B1G), which has now won 15 straight games dating to last year.

Miranda Ibello had a goal and five assists for Johns Hopkins (8-3, 1-1 B1G).

No. 1 Boston College Dominates No. 7 Virginia

Top-ranked Boston College continues to make it look easy.

The Eagles completely dominated the first half in a 16-9 victory over No. 7 Virginia to improve to 12-0 and 3-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers fell to 9-4 and just 1-4 in the league.

Reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo scored the first two goals of the game and by the time the first half was over, the Eagles had a comfortable 10-1 lead.

Apuzzo finished the game with six goals and an assist and Cara Urbank scored all three of her goals during the dominant first half. Dempsey Arsenault also had a hat trick for BC and added two assists. Abbey Ngai made 10 saves to earn the win.

Ashlyn McGovern and Sammy Mueller each had three goals for Virginia.

Syracuse Survives Close Shave at Duke

For the third time during its current six-game winning streak, No. 4 Syracuse won by a single goal. And for the third time this season, No. 14 Duke suffered a one-goal loss to a Top 10 team as the Orange hung on for a 15-14 win in Durham.

“It's a good balance and team chemistry and grit,” said Syracuse head coach Gary Gait of his team's ability to win close games. “We never give up. We're up (in this game), they fight back, we're up, they fight back. We held on at the end and did what we needed to – defense got the stops, Asa (Goldstock) made the saves when we needed them and we got the victory. We're pretty happy with that.”

The game featured seven lead changes, but the Orange (12-2, 4-1 ACC) finally appeared to have pulled away on goals by Meaghan Tyrrell and Emily Hawryschuk late in the game to take a 15-12 lead with 5:03 to play.

Duke (8-4, 2-2) made a final push, with Katie Cronin scoring with 4:05 left and Olivia Jenner cutting the margin to one with 1:50 in regulation.

Duke, which dominated the draw 21-10, got the ball back after Jenner’s goal with her sister Maddie Jenner controlling the ensuing draw, but the Blue Devils turned it over before getting off a shot and Syracuse ran out the clock for the win.

Hawryschuk led Syracuse with four goals and Tyrrell and Sam Swart each scored three goals. Olivia Jenner had six goals and three assists for Duke, and secured 10 draw controls.

• Brindi Griffin scored four goals as No. 2 Maryland handled Rutgers 20-3 to improve to 12-0 for the season. Megan Taylor made six saves while allowing just one goal.

• No. 11 James Madison scored the first 11 goals of the game in a 19-8 win over San Diego State. Halle Duenkel had a career-best four goals for the Dukes.

• Kelly Larkin had three goals and four assists and Kalya Harris and Reagn Roelofs each scored four goals as No. 13 Navy won its fifth straight game, beating Holy Cross 22-6.

• No. 17 Florida evened its record at 6-6 with a 15-8 win at Temple in its American Athletic Conference debut. Grace Haus led the Gators with a career-high tying four goals and Lindsey Ronbeck scored the 200^th goal of her career, just the third Florida player to reach the milestone.

• Bea Behrins and Elizabeth Behrins each scored four goals as Denver dominated Old Dominion 20-1 in its Big East opener.

• Twelve different players scored as No. 19 Stony Brook opened America East play with a 20-3 win over UMass-Lowell. Siobhan Rafferty led the way with four goals.

• Trailing 5-3, Dartmouth closed the first half on a seven-goal run on its way to beating Harvard 15-11. Ellie Carson scored four goals for the Big Green, which improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy League.

• Liza Hernandez scored three goals and Jill Rizzo made six saves, including the 500^th of her career, as Ohio State downed Oregon 11-5 at US Lacrosse headquarters. Oregon freshman goalie Rachel Hall, a member of the U.S. U19 team, made 20 saves.

• Alyssa Parrella stayed hot, scoring four goals to go along with three assists as Hofstra beat Columbia 13-8. Parrella now has 63 points in 11 games for the Pride.

• Cincinnati won the inaugural American Athletic Conference game, downing Connecticut 11-9 behind 11 saves from Giuliana Durso.

• Mount St. Mary’s scored the final five goals of the game to rally past UC Davis 11-10. Jordan Groover scored the game winner with 26 seconds left as the Mount improved to 8-2.

• Amy Hauser’s overtime goal gave Quinnipiac a 14-13 win over Canisius in overtime in a game in which the Bobcats trailed by six goals in the second half.

• Emma Rogers scored back-to-back goals in the final 2:14 as Radford edged Gardner-Webb 16-15.
