When you win 177 straight games, it's not suprising to find yourself ranked No. 1. That's the case once again for the McDonogh (Md.) girls' lacrosse program, which has been the No. 1 team in the end of year Nike/US Lacrosse high school girls' rankings for eight consecutive years.
The Eagles enter the preseason ranked No. 1 nationally, but with the resignation of longtime coach Chris Robinson in January, it will be interesting to follow McDonogh this season.
Coming in at No. 2 is a strong Garden City program which finished No. 2 in the final rankings a year ago and has won 14 of the last 22 state championships in New York. Rounding out our Top 5 are Bishop Ireton (Va.), Darien (Conn.) and Notre Dame Prep (Md.)
