High school girls’ lacrosse seasons have already begun in some regions across the country — a refreshing feeling after the 2020 season was largely wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With lacrosse back on the field, US Lacrosse Magazine is pleased to reveal the Nike / US Lacrosse Preseason Girls’ National Top 25, with McDonogh (Md.) earning the No. 1 ranking.

McDonogh enters 2021 at the top spot after going undefeated in 2019 and winning the IAAM-A conference championship.

The Eagles are led by a strong group of juniors in Caroline Godine, Dakota Uy and Kori Edmondson. Senior Lillie Bea Cope (University of Southern California) will also present a scoring option for coach Taylor Cummings, and sophomore midfielder Codi Johnson will be an up-and-coming player to watch.

The first update to the rankings will be during the week of March 29, at which point we will update records for teams that have played and adjust the Top 25 accordingly. From there, updates will be weekly throughout the remainder of the season.
