Maryland senior Megan Whittle was the definition of clutch in the NCAA quarterfinal.

With the Terps trailing 14-13 with 12:12 to play, the Tewaaraton finalist scored three straight goals to tie the game and put Maryland ahead by two to lead the reigning national champion to its 10th straight final four with a 17-15 comeback win over Navy.

For her performance, she is the Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Scoreless for the first half and the first 20 minutes of the second, Whittle finally broke through Navy’s faceguards when they needed her most.

She found the back of the net on a free position shot with 10:32 remaining, ripped another goal four minutes later and finished her hot spurt with one more free position goal. Her three goals came within a six-goal run for the Terps, who crawled back from a three-goal deficit set with 18:08 on the clock.

Whittle also added three ground balls, two draw controls and one assist in the win.
