Whittle’s record comes after facing a gauntlet of teams – and faceguards – in both Big Ten and non-conference play over her four seasons. As of April 8, No. 3 Maryland boasted the No. 1 RPI.
Whittle tied Adams’ record in the Terps’ 11-10 win over Princeton on Tuesday with another hat trick. Her third goal sparked a comeback run in the second half after Maryland trailed 7-4 at the break.
“Congratulations, Megan Whittle,” Adams said. “What an accomplishment. I could’ve seen this coming four years ago when you stepped foot into College Park. It’s been such an honor and a privilege getting to see you score goal after goal on route to breaking this Maryland goals record. Best news for Terps’ fans is you’re not done yet. Keep putting them away.”
