The best season in the draw circle in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse history officially belongs to Maddie Jenner.

The Duke senior, an attacker who dominates in the circle thanks to her technique and 6-foot-2 frame, brought in 10 draw controls during Duke’s 17-12 win over Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, giving her 229 this season.

That’s five more than Marist’s Hailey Wagner produced in 2019 over 18 games. Jenner achieved her record in 19 games and has at least one more to go this season when Duke takes on second-seeded Maryland in the second round on Sunday in College Park.

Earlier this season, Jenner became Duke’s all-time leader in draw controls. She passed her sister, Olivia, who previously held the mark with 512. After Friday’s game, Maddie Jenner now has 600.

Jenner is within striking distance of the all-time draw record of 645, held by Jessica Karwacki of Robert Morris, but Duke would need to make a deep run this May.
