The top three teams remained the same in this week's Nike/US Lacrosse rankings as Stony Brook, James Madison and Maryland all took care of business — none more impressively than Maryland winning 18-11 at Syracuse after the Orange had just beaten Florida.

There was plenty of movement in the rankings, however, especially in the bottom half, with Loyola and Colorado putting up impressive two-win weeks.

There are plenty of big tests this weekend, beginning with No. 5 Florida hosting No. 10 Navy on Tuesday.

HOT

Loyola (+6)

The Greyhounds started off the season with a pair of tough losses, including an overtime loss at Florida. Since then, they've ripped off three straight wins. Last week they gave Towson its first loss of the season and followed that up with an impressive 13-7 win over Princeton. The tough road continues with a battle against No. 7 Virginia on Wednesday before Loyola moves into Patriot League play.

Colorado (+5)

The Buffaloes made the first game in Pac-12 history one to remember as they outscored Stanford 18-16. They followed that up with a never-in-doubt 15-5 win over Cal on Sunday for their fourth straight victory. A big showdown at No. 12 USC awaits on Friday.

NOT

Towson (-6)

Towson is just one triple overtime defeat away from perfection, but last Wednesday's 14-13 loss to their neighborhood rival Loyola pushed them below the Greyhounds in the rankings.

Notre Dame (-5)

A slow start doomed Notre Dame in a 9-6 loss at Virginia Tech on Friday. The Irish scored just one goal in the first 45 minutes of the game before making a late rally to make things interesting. Notre Dame hosts No. 7 Virginia this weekend and will be looking for its first ranked win of the season.

IN

Penn State

The Nittany Lions are still searching for a signature win, but the quality of their three losses — a combined four goals in setbacks to JMU, Loyola and Towson — and a proven track record in recent years helps put Penn State back in the mix.

Virginia Tech

The Hokies looked to be down on the canvas after an 18-3 loss at Colorado last Sunday, but they salvaged their road trip with an 11-5 win against an impressive Denver team on Wednesday and then moved to 2-0 in the ACC with a 9-6 win over Notre Dame on Sunday. That was Virginia Tech's first win ever over the Irish in nine tries.

OUT

Yale (previously 16)

Yale's undefeated start to the season came to an end with a 10-9 triple overtime setback against Canisius. The Bulldogs trailed by four late before rallying to force overtime, but they couldn't complete the comeback.

Georgetown (previously 17)

The Hoyas ran into a buzzsaw at undefeated Penn on Saturday, falling 18-6. After hosting Villanova in its Big East opener this weekend, Georgetown will enter a very tough three-game stretch — Loyola, Florida, Maryland — that will go a long way in determining its fate in 2018.
