Brittany Read, a second-team All-American goalie and the reigning ACC Defender of the Year at Louisville, has transferred to Oregon. The Ducks made the announcement Tuesday.

Read, a rising senior, led the ACC in saves (194), save percentage (51.2) and saves per game (10.21) last season. Her 9.70 goals against average ranked second in the conference and 21st nationally. Read finished in the top 10 nationally in save percentage (seventh) and saves (186, fourth), while racking up double-digit saves in 11 games — including a career-high 16 saves in a 9-7 loss to Notre Dame on March 4.

Originally from Gibbsboro, N.J., Read lettered in lacrosse all four years at Eastern Regional High School, breaking the high school record with more than 600 saves in her career. In 2014 Read was an honorable mention US Lacrosse All-American as a senior.

At Oregon, Read provides an upgrade from Becca Katzen, who graduated after allowing more than 12 goals per game with a 33.6 save percentage. The Ducks are coming off of a 9-8 season, the first with Katrina Dowd at the helm.

Louisville was 11-8 and fell to James Madison in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The only other goalie listed on the Cardinals roster is sophomore Lexie Ball, who appeared in two games as a freshman.
