The No. 1 ranked Lindenwood Lions posted two strong wins to tighten their grip on the top spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Women's Top 20, while former champion Le Moyne registered a resounding win over a ranked opponent in an impressive season opening performance.

Undefeated Lindenwood capped its two-game swing through Florida by throttling then No. 3 Tampa, 11-5, fueled by a six-goal run that overlapped the first and second halves. The Lions kept the Spartans off the scoreboard for a 32-minute stretch to seize control of the game. Lindenwood stands 5-0 on the young season, with three top-20 wins on its resume.

Le Moyne kicked off the Liz Beville era with a statement victory, building a 10-1 halftime lead while cruising to a 19-2 win over then-No. 11 Mercyhurst. The Dolphins visit this week’s No. 11 team, Mercy, in one of the top matchups this week.

Other key games this week include No. 2 Queens at No. 12 Florida Southern, No. 5 Regis at undefeated Florida Tech, No. 6 Adelphi at No. 10 East Stroudsburg, and No. 14 Concordia at No. 9 Tampa.

HOT

Le Moyne (+2)

The Dolphins made short work of Mercyhurst with a dominant season-opening win at home. Gemma Addonizio, Sidney Hall and Nicole Delany fueled the offense with four goals apiece, the defense forced the Lakers into 21 turnovers and All-American goalie Hannah George recorded 10 saves. Le Moyne faces two more ranked opponents over the next 10 days, visiting No. 11 Mercy and facing No. 7 Indianapolis in a neutral site game in Sparks, Md.

Indianapolis (+2)

With a 5-0 record, the Greyhounds are off to the best start in program history. UIndy notched its second top-20 win of the season with a 14-11 victory over No. 17 Grand Valley State and followed two days later with a 20-8 takedown of Findlay. Abigail Lagos and Lauryn Hardoy combined for 13 goals in that win.

NOT

Mercyhurst (-7)

It was a rough day against Le Moyne for the Lakers, who are the preseason favorite to win the PSAC’s West Division. Mercyhurst fell behind early and never challenged the Dolphins while being out-shot 37-18. The Lakers will try to right the ship with two more non-conference games this week before starting league play against Slippery Rock on March 11.

Tampa (-6)

After climbing to No. 3 in the national ranking on the heels of a 3-0 start, the Spartans were outplayed at home by top-ranked Lindenwood in their first big game of the season. With the score tied at 2 midway through the opening half, Lindenwood systematically pulled away by outscoring Tampa 9-3 the rest of the way.

IN

St. Anselm (No. 16)

The Hawks opened their season quite impressively, posting a one-sided 13-3 road win over a ranked opponent. Saint Anselm blanked No. 13 St. Leo in the opening half while building a 7-0 lead, and then limited the Lions to just one goal over the final 28 minutes. Sophomore goalie Grace Young recorded a career-high 11 saves in her third career start for the Hawks.

OUT

St. Leo (previously No. 13)

The Lions had their lowest goal output in nearly two years in the loss against visiting St. Anselm, completing a disappointing 0-2 week that also included a 14-10 loss against East Stroudsburg.
