The NCAA Division II women's lacrosse regional semifinals took place on Friday and Limestone, Lindenwood and East Stroudsburg all posted wins to move on to Sunday's finals while Bentley advanced after Mercy was withdrew from the tournament due to COVID-10 protocols.

Limestone 9, Mt Olive 8 (OT)
Julia Foster scored unassisted on the first possession in overtime to lift Limestone to a 9-8 victory over Mt. Olive in Lakeland, Fla.  The Saints (12-2), No. 2 seed in the South region and ranked seventh in the country, scored the game’s final four goals to rally for the win and advance to Sunday’s regional final against No. 1 seed Queens (12-1).

Foster finished with a game-high three goals, including two of Limestone’s last four as they battled back from their largest deficit of the game over the final 13 minutes. Limestone claimed victory for the 11th time in 12 all-time meetings between the teams, which were former rivals in Conference Carolinas. Mt. Olive was making its first NCAA appearance, and finishes the year 13-2 overall.

Erin McGuire had four goals and two assists and Lexy Biller added three goals as host Lindenwood downed Regis, 14-9, in the opening round of the Midwest Regional. Lindenwood built an early 3-0 lead and never trailed as it registered its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2017. Regis scored two of the first three goals in the second half to pull to within 7-5, but Lindenwood answered with a five-goal run over a six-minute span to push its advantage to 12-5 and seize control. Regis (14-2) had its 14-game winning streak snapped, with both losses in 2021 coming against the Lions.

Lindenwood (14-1), the No. 2 seed in the Midwest and No. 2 ranked team in the country, will now face No. 1 ranked UIndy for the third time this season in Sunday’s regional final. The teams split the two prior meetings.

The victory gives ESU a fourth shot this season against PSAC rival West Chester (13-0) in Sunday’s regional final. WCU, the nation’s last undefeated team, is the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic region and No. 3 ranked team in the country.

Leading 9-7 at halftime, ESU started the second half on a 7-1 run, with Mitarotonda collecting her third and fourth of the game, and Hana Cicerelle scoring three times during that run. Seton Hill finishes the year with a 13-3 record after making its second NCAA appearance.
