Welcome back to the top 5, Lenoir-Rhyne.

Back in February 2018, the Bears swept through Limestone and Seton Hill to vault into the upper echelon of Division II lacrosse. This year, Lenoir-Rhyne has pulled off a similar feat — downing then-No. 2 Adelphi and then-No. 1 Limestone within a week.

As a result, Lenoir-Rhyne moves up to No. 5 in this week’s ranking, and Le Moyne becomes the new No. 1 in Division II.

Elsewhere, Tampa continued its hot start with a 13-6 win over Adelphi at Homewood Field. Safe to say there will be changes in this week’s rankings.

HOT

Lenoir-Rhyne (+3)

The win over Adelphi launched the Bears into the top 10 last week, and they topped that feat by downing Limestone 18-16 on Sunday. If not for a loss to Belmont Abbey on Feb. 21, Lenoir-Rhyne might very well have topped the rankings.

Colorado Mesa (+7)

In a matchup of two of the best of the West, Colorado Mesa got past Rockhurst 14-10. The Mavericks are on a tear offensively, averaging 17.7 goals per game.

NOT

Adelphi (-5)

It has been a cold start for the Panthers, who have fallen to Lenoir-Rhyne and Tampa to open the season. The trip to Baltimore was less kind for Adelphi, which managed six goals in the loss to Tampa. After blowing out American International on Saturday, Adelphi looks to build a new win streak.

Mount Olive (-5)

Two losses in three games have the Trojans on the edge of the top 20 this week. Mount Olive lost to Seton Hill 11-7 on Feb. 22, but it’s the 13-10 setback to Florida Southern that pushes it back to No. 20.

Rockhurst (-6)

Rockhurst had a hot start to 2020, going 5-0 out of the gate, but the loss to Colorado Mesa is a setback. Fortunately for the Hawks, they’ll battle three more ranked opponents — Lindenwood, Rollins and Indianapolis — before season’s end.
