Liz Beville has swapped jobs with Kathy Taylor, the coach for whom she played in college.

Two months after Taylor left Le Moyne to become the head coach at Colgate, the Dolphins announced Monday that Beville, the former interim head coach at Colgate, will replace Taylor at the helm of the perennial NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse power.

“I feel extremely fortunate to be given the chance to lead a national championship-caliber program and look forward to building on the solid foundation and culture that has been established,” Beville said in a press release posted on Le Moyne’s website.

Beville, who guided the Raiders to an 8-10 record and their first Patriot League tournament win since 2011, had previous stops as an assistant at Colgate, Colorado Mesa, Cortland and Muhlenberg. Her father is Cortland men’s coach Steve Beville. She played for the Red Dragons women’s team when Taylor was the coach, helping them to reach four straight NCAA Division III semifinals.

Le Moyne, just one year removed from winning the national championship, is coming off of a 20-2 season that ended with a loss to rival Adelphi in the NCAA quarterfinals.
