The game of the Division II men’s season went down on Saturday, with No. 2 Le Moyne handing No. 1 Merrimack its first loss. In what could be the first of up to three matchups between the teams, the Dolphins showed why they’re the new No. 1 team in the country.
Merrimack entered the game averaging 14.75 goals per game, but the Le Moyne defense held it to just five goals in the win. The Warriors will look for revenge in a potential NE-10 tournament matchup.
Elsewhere in the Division II world, Florida Tech picked up two wins over top 10 teams last week, downing Tampa and Mount Olive. As a result, it makes a big jump into the top 20.

Lake Erie (+5)
The Storm responded from its season-opening loss to Merrimack with four straight wins. They knocked off Mercyhurst 7-6 last weekend to pick up their biggest win to date. With another victory over Rollins by 12 goals earlier this season, Lake Erie’s resume is strong. It owns the top offense in Division II with 19.75 goals per game.
Rollins (+3)
After starting the year 0-3, Rollins has won three straight games, including two over ranked teams. The Tars beat a hot Lynn team last week, helping to solidify their spot in the top 20. A meeting with Florida Tech is on the horizon.

Merychurst (-8)
The loss to Lake Erie knocks Mercyhurst back to No. 14 for the time being. The six goals were tied for the season-low for the Lakers, who beat Wingate 6-5 earlier in the season. Up next is a tough Rockhurst team.
Mount Olive (-7)
The Trojans struggled in a loss to Florida Tech on Saturday. Luckily for Mount Olive, it has followed a loss with multiple victories both times this season. The road doesn’t get easier, with Limestone and Belmont Abbey up next.

How’s this for a successful week? In a span of three days, Florida Tech upset then-No. 5 Tampa and then-No. 9 Mount Olive. Both wins came by one goal, and the Panthers would be higher in the rankings if it hadn’t lost early games to Wingate, Young Harris and Catawba. Games against Rollins and Lynn could help prove how good this team really is.

Florida Southern
With the addition of Florida Tech to the rankings, one team had to fall out of the top 20. Lynn trumped Florida Southern for the final spot due to its win over Belmont Abbey — a team the Mocs fell to in the season-opener. However, those two teams will meet this week to prove who deserves a spot in the top 20.
