SPARKS, Md. — Lax Sports Network will provide live coverage from the U.S. women’s national team’s exhibition game against a Women’s Professional Lacrosse League select team during the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) President’s Cup on Saturday, Nov. 23. The streaming is presented by US Lacrosse and World Lacrosse.

Tom Eschen will provide play-by-coverage with Amanda Mastera on color analysis and National Lacrosse Hall of Famer Rachael DeCecco providing sideline reporting.

The IWLCA President’s Cup, featuring approximately 400 club teams with high school aged athletes from around the country, will be held from Nov. 22-24 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The USA-WPLL exhibition game takes place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m. at The International Polo Club and admission is free of charge. The game will be played using the trial rules developed by World Lacrosse to best position the sport for potential Olympic consideration.

The trial rules feature a 6-on-6 format on a smaller field (70 x 36 meters) with shorter games (four 8-minute periods of running clock) and a 45-second shot clock.

The U.S. and WPLL played under similar rules at last year’s IWLCA President’s Cup with the U.S. team edging the WPLL squad for a 10-9 victory.

The U.S. team has a strong connection to the WPLL with 20 U.S. players at this training weekend currently on WPLL rosters, including 2019 WPLL All-Star selections Dempsey Arsenault, Taylor Cummings, Meg Doputy, Katrina Dowd, Liz Hogan, Amanda Johansen, Marie McCool, Alica Mercer and Kayla Treanor.

The WPLL roster includes All-Star selections Dana Dobbie, Hannah Nielsen and Katie Hertsch and four U.S. players taking part in the training weekend will play for the WPLL during the exhibition game — Becca Block, Johansen, Gussie Johns and Emily Parros.

In addition to the WPLL exhibition, the U.S. team will play a Blue-White exhibition game using traditional international women’s lacrosse rules on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Village Park Athletics Complex (located adjacent to The International Polo Club).
