For about 20 minutes, it looked as though UMBC might be ready to pull another rabbit out of the hat.

The school which produced a landmark No. 16 seed vs. No. 1 seed upset over Virginia in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and then followed that up with a stunning upset over No. 1 Albany in men's lacrosse, went toe-to-toe with No. 1 Stony Brook for much of the first half on Saturday afternoon.

UMBC's Carolyn Jamison scored her second goal of the game with 10:14 remaining in the opening half to tie the score 5-5, and then Stony Brook happened.

The Seawolves exploded for nine goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half, highlighted by a behind-the-back goal by Kylie Ohlmiller, which gave the senior 446 points for her career to break Jen Adams (Maryland 1998-2001) 17-year-old NCAA career scoring mark.

By the time it was over, Stony Brook posted a 22-7 victory over its America East rival.

Ohlmiller finished her day with two goals and six assists to break another NCAA record. Her six assists gave her 226 for her career, breaking Hannah Nielsen's (Northwestern 2006-2009) mark of 224.

Not to be outdone, Courtney Murphy, who earlier this year broke the NCAA career goals record, had eight goals and three assists for a career-best 11-point afternoon. Murphy, whose NCAA goals record was recognized with a t-shirt jersey giveaway on Saturday, scored seven of her goals in the first half.

Also adding to Stony Brook's output were Ally Kennedy with three goals and three assists and Taryn Ohlmiller with three goals and two assists.

Jamison led UMBC (10-6, 2-4 America East) with six points on two goals and four assists.

Stony Brook (15-0, 6-0 America East) has its final nonconference test of the season when it hosts NCAA semifinalist Penn State on Tuesday.
