Jamie Ortega saved her biggest performance of the spring for the top opponent on North Carolina’s schedule.
The top-ranked Tar Heels took on No. 2 Syracuse on Saturday and dismantled the Orange 17-6. Ortega produced five goals and three assists for a season-high eight points, the latest star performance for the Tar Heels’ star attacker. She has 48 goals and 17 assists during UNC’s 11-0 start. She’s shooting a whopping 70.9 percent, too.
Ortega is the US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Player of the Week.
Of the five goals Ortega scored against the Orange, the one below represented the best highlight. Ortega, as she typically does, weaved herself into the middle of the defense, received the pass from Katie Hoeg and spun, instantly firing a shot into the back of the cage.
Jamie Ortega in the middle? Yeah, that’s automatic.
