The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its Division I All-Americans and award winners on Thursday morning and afternoon. Taking home the title of Player of the Year was Boston College’s Sam Apuzzo — two weeks after she was named the Tewaaraton Award winner.

Apuzzo also won Attacker of the Year, while Marie McCool (North Carolina) won Midfielder of the Year, Elizabeth Miller (Boston College) won Defender of the Year and Julia Lisella (Colorado) won Goalkeeper of the Year.

It was a historic season for Apuzzo, the Boston College star that led her team to a 22-2 record and a berth in the national championship game for the second straight season. She dropped 88 goals and 41 assists for shattered a single-season program record. She also set the program mark with 163 draw controls. Apuzzo is the first Boston College player to take home Player of the Year honors.

Apuzzo joins teammates Dempsey Arsenault and Miller on the IWLCA All-American First Team.
