For the first two years of her Boston College athletic career, Kenzie Kent was better known for her exploits on the ice for the Eagles' nationally-ranked hockey program. Visits to the Frozen Four in ice hockey kept her off the lacrosse field until midway through the season.
She found success in lacrosse, but the late starts kept her mostly under the radar. That all changed last year when Kent spurred BC to its first final four run in women's lacrosse. Kent scored five goals in a semifinal win over Navy and then had 10 points in a title game loss to Maryland — earning her the rare distinction of earning Most Outstanding Player honors from a losing squad.
Kent graces the cover of our December issue of US Lacrosse Magazine, and Matt White checks in with the phenom as she enters her senior year poised to do even more.
Also in this edition, we revisit the Decatur (Ga.) lacrosse scene, a one-time US Lacrosse equipment grant recipient that is doing big things for area youth; we preview the upcoming National Lacrosse League season and we look back on the 2017 lacrosse season with our annual "Best of Lacrosse" package.
