HOT
Indianapolis (+3)
Two wins over an impressive conference team has Indianapolis in this week’s top 10. Wyatt Auyer dropped four goals in a 12-5 win over Maryville on Wednesday, and Drew Billig added two goals in the 9-8 win Saturday. Goalie Austin Barnett set a program record with 20 saves in the one-goal win. The upcoming battle with Lindenwood will be one to watch atop the GLVC.
Belmont Abbey (+2)
Since dropping two games to start the season, Belmont Abbey has rallied off seven straight victories. The strength of schedule has not been rigorous, but the Crusaders are averaging 16.7 goals per game during the streak.
NOT
Mount Olive (-7)
The Trojans had come out on the right end of early tests from Newberry (10-9) and Colorado Mesa (11-10) but could not hold on against North Greenville. Even with a 20-4 drubbing of Chowan, Mount Olive is averaging 9.7 goals per game. Defense is this team’s specialty, but it allowed five fourth-quarter goals on Saturday.
Maryville (-7)
Maryville looked to be the team to beat in the GLVC earlier on, but Indianapolis showed this week that there still is work to do. The Saints scored just 14 goals in a pair of losses to Indy, culminating in the stinging 9-8 loss just before the buzzer.
IN
Rockhurst (No. 20)
Rockhurst snapped a three-game losing streak this weekend, downing Davenport 12-8 thanks to three goals from Kevin Grelle. The schedule opens up a bit before a showdown with Indianapolis on April 17.
OUT
Florida Southern (was No. 15)
The Mocs opened their season with a 15-goal loss to top-ranked Tampa on Wednesday — a game in which the Spartans outshot their opponent 61-28. Although Florida Southern rebounded with a win over Palm Beach Atlantic, it falls out of the rankings for this week.
