1. Hutchison (Tenn.), 0-0

The seven-time defending state champion Sting was set to begin play Monday. Seven starters return, including All-American midfielder Elizabeth Farnsworth (Virginia). Previous: 1

2. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) 2-0

The Stallions opened the season with two solid wins, beating Cardinal Newman (Fla.) 19-6 and South No. 9 Lassiter (Ga.) 20-10. Caitlyn Wurzburger had 14 goals and 16 assists in the two games. Allegra Catalano tallied four goals and an assist against Cardinal Newman, and Sara Palmisano had three goals and three assists against Lassiter. Previous: 2

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) 2-0

The Raiders beat St. John Paul (Fla.) 18-3 to open the season and then shut out Plantation (Fla.) 19-0. Carly Steinhauf scored six goals and had an assist against St. John Paul and added three more goals against Plantation. Jade Preston contributed four goals and three assists in the opener and added three goals and two assists against Plantation. Kaitlyn Michaud chipped in three goals and seven assists in the two games, while Caroline Stefans had four goals, two assists and 13 draw controls. Previous: 3

4. Milton (Ga.), 1-0

The Eagles opened the season with a good 16-6 win against Walton (Ga.), finishing strong after a slow start. Briana Carrasquillo led with five goals on seven shots, nine draw controls and three caused turnovers. Kate Winsness added three goals. Previous: 4

5. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 0-0

The Crusaders, coming off their second straight NCHSAA state championship, open play Friday as they look to find out who will replace standout Jordan Lappin’s production from 87 goals and 53 assists. Gibbons still looks solid overall with seven returning starters. Previous: 5

The Eagles begin their season Wednesday with seven starters back from the first Texas state championship team in program history. Previous: 6

7. Lassiter (Ga.), 5-1

The Trojans started the season strong, winning their first two games against in-state teams and then collecting wins in three of four games in Florida. Lassiter picked up a 12-8 win over Mill Creek and then beat Woodstock 20-0 before moving on to Florida, where their lone loss was to American Heritage, 20-10. They bounced back by beating defending Florida state champ Bishop Moore 13-10, Benjamin 16-7 and Lake Highland Prep 16-9. Previous: 9

8. Blessed Trinity (Ga.), 2-0

The Titans opened the season by beating Kennesaw Mountain (Ga.) 12-11 and followed that with a 19-8 win over Holy Innocents (Ga.). Previous: 7

9. Barron Collier (Fla.), 1-0

The Cougars opened with a 17-1 win over Golden Gate (Fla.), led by Gail Franklin’s four goals. Caroline Peterson and Olivia Vitale each scored three. Barron Collier has a huge game on Wednesday, when they host St. Thomas Aquinas in the first notable contest on a packed schedule. Previous: 8

10. Bishop Moore (Fla.), 3-1

The Hornets opened the season with a 15-9 win over Winter Park (Fla.) and then beat Freedom (Fla.) 19-0 before losing to Lassiter, 13-10. They rebounded with an 8-4 win over 2017 Georgia 6A state runner-up Cambridge (Ga.) the next day. Jess Kranich had two goals in the win over Freedom. Previous: 10

BRINE/US LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Alison Mills, Lassiter (Ga.)

The junior attacker scored 13 goals in Lassiter’s four-game swing through Florida, helping lift the Trojans to wins in three of those games. Mills shot 82 percent and also had six assists and four caused turnovers.
