On Jan. 10, Kevin Crowley scored the 300^th goal of his NLL career on what could be the most ridiculous goal you’ll ever see.

“It’s just one of those once-in-a-career things,” he said.

During a phone call with US Lacrosse Magazine, Crowley provided a step-by-step breakdown of the goal.

1. The Break from the Defender

“Josh [Currier] put the ball in a spot. It’s kind of similar to a center in basketball under the hoop where you have inside position. Josh was able to put the ball there, and I could fend the defender off with my one arm.”

2. The Stick Awareness

“It’s kind of something that I do at the summer camps I run, when you’re playing wall ball and before I let the kids take a water break, I’m like, ‘Hey, try catching it behind your head.’ ”

He continued: “It’s not like I’ve never caught it behind my back before, but that’s just the way I’d mess around with kids at my camps.”

3. The Catch

“Honestly, I don’t know if I could have caught it any other way. It’s one of those things, you work on it in practice and you never know if it’s going to show itself in a game. I threw my stick behind my head and was like, at that point, hoping that I felt it in my stick.”

4. The Shot

“I think just the way after I got the ball, the way I had to keep it in my stick almost looked like a fake to the far-side. I think the fake came, and I was able to tuck it back near-side after I had the goalie leaning far. That’s probably one of my go-to fakes.”

5. The Celly

“I’m honestly not a big goal celebrator. I’m not showy with my celebrations. But I think that has to be the nicest goal I’ll ever score. That one was pretty special, and I wasn’t even thinking about that being No. 300 at the time. I was just excited I caught the pass.”
