Spalding Rises to No. 1 in USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25

For the second straight week, there's a new No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25.

Always potent Lawrenceville (N.J.) went on the road and rallied in the second half for an impressive win at then top-ranked Salisbury (Conn.). It was the first loss of the season for Salisbury, and jumps Lawrenceville right back in the conversation for the top spot in the country. The Big Red have lost two games this season, both by just a goal apiece.

For now, that top spot belongs to Archbishop Spalding (Md.). The Cavaliers have lost only once all season in the hyper-competitive MIAA, though that record will be tested again this week by another one-loss team, Calvert Hall (Md.). Spalding’s win over St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) was decisive and showed off its strength from end to end.

Loomis Chaffee (Conn.), another one-loss team, slides up to No. 3 after it dominated its lone game of the week. Salisbury (Conn.) checks in right behind them with Delbarton (N.J.) on its heels at No. 5 and already proving themselves dangerous.

Most of the other changes were subtle in the Top 25. Haverford School (Pa.) also picked up a road win at St. Anthony’s which bumped the Fords a few spots up to No. 11, just behind Malvern Prep (Pa.) which nipped them in an overtime classic.

New to the Top 25 are a pair of well-constructed teams. Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) put together a 3-0 week that included wins over St. Paul’s (Md.) and a Fairfield Prep (Conn.). Salesianum (Del.) takes the final spot. Sallies has looked unstoppable save for a loss to Chaminade (N.Y.).
