Sydney Watson set a Connecticut record with 14 draw controls and tied a school record with eight goals as the Huskes improved to 2-1 with a 20-14 win over UMass-Lowell.

Watson, a junior from Prince Frederick, Md., was an All-AAC selection last year when she led UConn in goals (39), points (51) and draw controls (92). She has 14 goals in just three games this season.

Lia LaPrise added three goals and four assists for UConn and sophomore goalie Landyn White came off the bench late in the first, finishing with seven saves and just five goals allowed to earn the win. Izzy Liquori led UMass-Lowell with five goals.

Michigan Pulls Away From Louisville

No. 13 Michigan scored the final four goals of the game, all in the final 6:38, to pull away from a 15-11 victory over Louisville.

The Wolverines scored the first five goals of the game and Louisville spent the rest of the game playing catch-up. The Cardinals tied the game at 7-7, 9-9 and 11-11, but never got over the hump. Erin Garvey’s goal with 6:38 remaining gave Michigan the lead for good at 12-11.

Kaitlyn Mead led Michigan with four goals, including a goal just 34 seconds after Garvey’s key goal to help the Wolverines stretch the lead. Louisville goalie Rachel Florek made 17 saves and Shayla Scanlan scored four times for the Cardinals.

  • No. 12 Denver had assists on 15 of its season-high 21 goals in a 21-7 win over Oregon. The Pioneers (3-0) got a game-high seven points from Hannah Liddy (2g, 5a).

  • No. 20 Colorado scored the first six goals of the game and held off a late Harvard surge for a 9-7 victory. Charlie Rudy had four goals for the Buffs. Julia Lisella made 10 saves for Colorado and Grace Rotondo had 12 for Harvard.

  • Robert Morris beat Akron 18-4, and goalie Katelyn Miller earned a school record 34th victory in the process.

  • Fifteen players scored goals as Army improved to 4-0 with a 20-5 win over Hartford.

  • Senior Shea Swartwout scored five goals and sophomore Michelle Messenger made 12 saves while allowing just four goals as Niagara topped Merrimack 10-8 for its first win of the season.
