The Boston College offense is humming.

After beating Albany handily during the week, the No. 16 Eagles opened Friday’s matinee against No. 14 USC with four goals by four scorers — Jenn Medjid, Caitlynn Mossman, Cara Urbank and Cassidy Weeks.

It was Charlotte North who would lead the way from there scoring four goals and tying for the team high in points with Urbank as Boston College improved to 2-0 with a 14-8 win over the Women of Troy in Newton, Mass.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a game without a Charlotte North highlight.

USC threatened with 4:15 remaining in the game. Kelsey Huff’s unassisted score cut the deficit to 11-8, but Belle Smith, Weeks and North all scored to close the contest.

Northwestern Overcomes Slow Start

Aurora Cordingley gave Johns Hopkins a three-goal lead with 15:26 left in the first half, but the Blue Jays could not hold down the potent offense of No. 4 Northwestern for long.

The Wildcats went on to score 12 straight en route to a 17-8 victory. Izzy Scane led the field with six points (four goals, two assists), and Lauren Gilbert notched a hat trick. Brennan Dwyer controlled 10 draws.

James Madison Wins in OT

High Point gave No. 15 James Madison all it could handle, but the Dukes — who were forced to postpone their first two games this season due to health and safety protocols — emerged victorious when Kacey Knobloch fed Daria Lucchesi in overtime for a 10-9 win.

The Dukes trailed 9-7 before Tai Jankowski fed Rachel Matey and then scored a goal of her own with 54 seconds left in regulation, tying the score.

Abby Hormes scored three goals with one assist for High Point (1-2).

Maryland Rights the Ship

With both No. 13 Maryland and No. 20 Michigan looking to avoid an 0-2 start, it was the Terrapins who came out firing. The Terps built a four-goal halftime lead en route to a 17-13 victory in College Park behind Hannah Leubecker’s seven goals on nine shots.

Nadine Stewart kept Michigan in the game with her four goals, but Leubecker’s performance made the difference.

Rutgers Continues Early Success

After a loss to Penn State to the open the season, Rutgers has turned it around. The Scarlet Knights beat Johns Hopkins for the first time in program history on Sunday, then came from behind on Friday to top No. 19 Ohio State 12-9.

It was Rutgers’ first win over a ranked team since 2017. It’s also the program’s first two-game winning streak in the Big Ten since a three-game stretch in 2016. Taralyn Naslonski produced a game-high six points (five goals).
