When Michigan and Ohio State meet in any sport, it’s bound to be entertaining. The rivalry lived up to the hype on Friday night, as Michigan dropped eight first-half goals and held on to upset the rival Ohio State Buckeyes 13-10 for the first time in school history.

The loss knocks the Buckeyes of out contention for the Big Ten tournament.

The Wolverines started the game on a 4-1 run and led by one goal at the end of the first quarter. Ohio State tied the game at 4-4 in the second quarter, before Bryce Clay scored three straight goals and Decker Curran added another to give Michigan the 8-4 lead at halftime.

Jack Myers had two goals in the third quarter, and Jackson Reid continued an Ohio State run into the final period, cutting the deficit to 11-9 with 10:18 left. Brent Noseworthy, however, found an answer for Michigan three minutes later to put his team ahead for good.

Noseworthy finished with three goals in his final regular season game, while Clay matched that total. Justin Inacio won a school-record 23 of 25 faceoffs for Ohio State.

Loyola Takes Top Seed

Kevin Lindley had three goals to break Eric Lusby’s single-season scoring record and help Loyola cruised to a 15-4 win over Lafayette. With the win, the Greyhounds clinch the top seed in the Patriot League tournament.

Loyola led 6-2 after one half and exploded with nine second-half tallies to pull away from Lafayette. Pat Spencer had three assists to continue his strong season.

Denver Earns Share of BIG East Title

Denver overcame a slow start and held on in the fourth quarter to down Marquette 9-8 and clinch at least a share of the BIG East title for the fourth straight season.

But it didn’t come easy. Marquette scored five of the first six goals, all in the first quarter. Ryan Fazio had two goals and an assists in the quarter that put the Golden Eagles solidly in the lead.

Quinn McKone, Danny Logan, Ethan Walker and Ted Sullivan combined for a 4-1 quarter to help Denver cut the deficit to 6-5 at halftime.

Walker and Austin French combined to score the first three goals of the second half, giving the Pioneers their first lead and midway through the third quarter. Marquette answered with two straight goals to tie the game at 8-8.

Sullivan scored what would be the game-winner with 2:10 left in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles put up 12 fourth-quarter shots, but Cole French made four saves to keep Denver in the lead.

Navy Tops Boston U

Navy withstood a rain delay, and then a late tide from Boston U to pick up a 13-12 victory and help clinch the Patriot League title for Loyola. Christian Daniel led the way with five goals for the Midshipmen.

After one quarter, Navy led 3-2 in what was a back-and-forth affair. The Terriers responded with a three-goal run — part of a 5-3 quarter that helped them take a 7-6 lead into halftime. Brendan Homire had a first-half hat trick for Boston U.

Daniel took over in the third quarter, scoring three of Navy’s five goals to push his team to an 11-8 lead. Greyson Torain and Ryan Wade scored back-to-back fourth quarter goals to put Navy up 13-9 with 6:54 left.

That’s when Boston U mounted a rally, scoring three times in the final three minutes to cut the deficit to one with 32 seconds left. The Terriers won the ensuing faceoff, but a late turnover sealed the Navy win.

Boston U takes the third seed in the Patriot League tournament and will face Bucknell.

UMass Wins CAA Regular Season Title

UMass survived a tough test from Delaware to earn the top seed in the CAA tournament, scoring the final two goals to win 11-9 on Friday night.

The Minutemen scored the first three goals and led 3-1 entering the second quarter. Down 5-2, Delaware answered with three straight goals to tie the game early in the third quarter. UMass rallied off three more goals to take an 8-5 lead thanks to goals from Charlie and Dan O’Brien, as well as Devin Spencer.

And, continuing with the trend, Delaware tied the game up at 8-8 with 1:19 left in the third quarter thanks to three different scorers. The game was tied again at 9-9 after Charlie Kitchen scored with 2:57 left.

Less than a minute later, Jeff Trainor scored the eventual game-winner, which was followed by another goal from Billy Philpott.

Stony Brook Takes America East

Tom Haun scored four goals to Stony Brook past Albany 12-10 in a battle for the America East's top seed.

Stony Brook jumped out to a 5-1 lead and held a 10-5 lead at halftime. Albany found momentum in the third quarter, scoring all four goals to cut the deficit to 10-9. Haun and Chris Pickel scored in the fourth quarter to keep the Seawolves in front.
