Scane Sets Northwestern Record with 10 Goals
Izzy Scane, whose 27 goals ranked third in the country heading into the weekend, broke the Northwestern record with 10 goals in a 22-10 victory at Rutgers on Friday afternoon.
Scane became the fourth player in Northwestern history to score nine goals in a game when she hit the mark in Northwestern’s season-opening victory against Ohio State. After scoring a season-low two goals in the Wildcats’ win over Penn State on Sunday, Scane came out on fire, scoring six goals in the first 17 minutes of the game. She ended up converting on 10 of 15 shots to claim the record as her own.
No. 3 Northwestern also got five goals from Lauren Gilbert and three goals and four assists from Sammy Muller to improve to 6-0. Taralyn Naslonski had a hat trick for Rutgers, which dropped its third straight game to fall to 3-4.
Florida Bounces Back, Beats Temple
No. 14 Florida bounced back from last weekend’s loss to Jacksonville with a 15-9 win over a strong Temple team. Temple limited Florida to just 23 shots in the game, but the Gators (4-2, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) were efficient, putting 20 of those 23 shots on goal and converting on 15 of them.
Shannon Kavanaugh scored all five of her goals in the second half to help Florida pull away from a 7-4 halftime lead. Florida goalie Sarah Reznick made 11 saves. Bridget Whitaker led Temple (4-2, 0-1 AAC) with five goals.
