Fred Opie is an author and former Syracuse University and US National Lacrosse team player growing integrity, effort, and care on and off the field.

Host Fred Opie interviews Garden City, N.Y. native, Univeristy of Virginia standout, and University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Lacrosse Coach Amy Slade. They talk about her experience growing up in Garden City, a perennial powerhouse in New York state lacrosse. Slade played varsity all four years in high school and explains how the neighborhood that she grew up in had produced a plethora of outstanding athletes who went on to play lacrosse at some of the top programs in the country. She explains her decision to attend the University of Virginia where she met her friend George Mason University head lacrosse Jesse Morgan. Slade describes the game changers who she describes as the 1 percent of the population willing to do whatever is necessary to get better as athletes and coaches.
