Kelly McCloskey, a two-time All-American women’s lacrosse player at Temple who led the Owls to an NCAA final four appearance in 1990, died Sunday night after battling cancer. She was 49.

McCloskey was the head coach at Alvernia for 12 seasons (2006-17) and had numerous family ties to the university, which posted this remembrance of her Monday.

McCloskey also coached field hockey and lacrosse at Cabrini and Cedar Crest. She was promoted to athletic director at Cedar Crest in 2002, serving in that capacity before she was hired at Alvernia four years later. McCloskey served on the NCAA regional advisory and IWLCA All-American committees.
