Percent of New Year’s resolutions fail by February. Here’s one for next year: Take every available e-learning course for officials (free for members). You could do one course per week and still have two left over.

16,271 Officials

At press time, there were 7,454 active women’s officials and 8,817 active men’s officials who are US Lacrosse members — enough to max out the new Pechanga Arena in San Diego, home of the National Lacrosse League’s San Diego Seals. That’s a lot of stripes.

Officials that have attended at least one in-person US Lacrosse officials development opportunity — including ODP clinics (Level 1, 2 and 3), LaxCon and the West Regional Conference — since 2015.

THE 4TH TEAM

For every crew of officials, there are trainers, observers and assigners — not to mention understanding families and loyal pets — who put them there. US Lacrosse boasts 807 certified trainers and 528 certified observers, and in November unveiled a new certification program for assigners.

GEN Z FOR ZEBRA

Among the more than 16,000 lacrosse officials nationwide, 3,620 are age 18 and under, representing the largest age segment defined by US Lacrosse membership. US Lacrosse offers a junior official certification program for members age 14-18.
