The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. (The South region season is complete.) Make it Epoch.  

Northeast

Kelsi LoNigro, Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.)

LoNigro scored with 1:35 left in the second overtime to propel the second-seeded Phantoms to a 9-8 win over third-seeded Shoreham-Wading River in the Suffolk County Class B semifinals. She finished with four goals for the Phantoms. S-WR scored four goals in the final 4:51 of regulation to force overtime. LoNigro is headed to Monmouth.

Mid-Atlantic

Sydney Wolfington, Agnes Irwin (Pa.)

The junior attacker scored all five of her goals in the first half Thursday as the Owls raced past Episcopal Academy (Pa.), 14-7, to claim the Pennsylvania Independent Athletic Association title. The victory avenged a pair of regular season losses. Wolfington also combined for five goals and three assists in tournament wins over Hill School (Pa.) and Notre Dame Academy (Pa.) earlier in the week. She is committed to Penn State.

Midwest

Brennan Dwyer, Loyola Academy (Ill.)

Dwyer is the Midwest Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks as she led Loyola Academy to an 18-6 win over York (Ill.) on Wednesday. Dwyer scored seven times, added two assists and won 11 draws. Dwyer, a Northwestern signee, has 108 goals on the season, along with 60 assists.

West

Bridget Sutter, Colorado Academy (Colo.)

The senior goalie played one of her best games of the season in her final high school game. Sutter registered 12 saves to preserve an 8-5 win over Cherry Creek (Colo.) in the state championship game Wednesday, as the Mustangs claimed their third straight title. With the score tied at 3-3, Sutter came up with a key save to help Colorado maintain momentum on a 4-0 run in the first half for an advantage it wouldn’t lose. She posted a .705 save percentage for the game.
