The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast (begins next week), Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. Make it Epoch

Northeast

Kiera Shanley and Sydney DeGirolamo, Fayetteville-Manlius (N.Y.)

Shanley, a sophomore, netted seven goals and DeGirolamo, a junior, won 17 draws to lead Fayetteville-Manlius to a 16-13 win over West Genesee (N.Y.), the program’s first win over West Genny since 2006. F-M rallied from a 5-0 deficit to improve to 4-0 this season.

Mid-Atlantic

Anna Callahan, Glenelg (Md.)

The junior midfielder helped the Gladiators put their best foot forward in their own tournament Saturday. Callahan posted three goals and two assists in a 9-7 win over then-No. 4 Notre Dame Prep (Md.). The Duke recruit followed up with three goals and an assist in a 17-9 victory over defending Maryland 4A-3A champ Dulaney to close the day.

South

Griffin Gearhardt, Hutchison (Tenn.)

The senior was impressive in a big win over Holy Cross (Md.), tallying eight goals, an assist and three groundballs. She finished the week with another solid performance against Houston (Tenn.), as she had seven goals, seven assists, two groundballs and a draw control. For the season, Gearhardt has 65 goals and 52 assists. She is averaging nine points per game.

Midwest

Brenna Smith, Upper Arlington (Ohio)

The junior attacker is among a group of scorers who have led the Golden Bears to the top of the Midwest rankings. In two games last week, Smith combined for seven goals and four assists. She is committed to Florida Southern College.

Sloane Murphy, Colorado Academy (Colo.)

The sophomore played a big role in helping the Mustangs edge out Kent Denver (Colo.), 11-10, last week. She had five goals on six shots, two groundballs, two draw wins and one takeaway as Colorado remained unbeaten in its in-state schedule. Murphy is committed to USC.
