The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast (begins next week), Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. Make it Epoch

Northeast

Anthony Celauro, Syosset (N.Y.)

The junior goalie finished with six saves in an early-season 9-8 win over Northport (N.Y.), including a stop with one second left to preserve the win. He totaled 21 saves, as Syosset won its first three games of the season. Celauro is committed to Stony Brook.

Mid-Atlantic

Jack Traynor, Malvern Prep (Pa.)

The attackman got his junior season off on the right foot, leading the Friars to a pair of wins last week. Traynor recorded three goals and three assists in a 13-7 victory over then-No. 13 Calvert Hall (Md.) on Tuesday. The Penn State recruit followed with three more goals and an assist Saturday in a 15-6 defeat of Garnet Valley (Pa.).

South

Clay Welch, Ponte Vedra (Fla.)

The senior midfielder was all over the field in four wins last week for the Sharks. He amassed 15 goals, including seven in a 20-8 win over Charlotte Catholic (N.C.), and added five assists over the four games. He scored four times against Mountain Vista (Colo.), helping Ponte Vedra come back from a three-goal deficit. Welch also grabbed 11 ground balls and was dominant on the defensive end and clear game.

Midwest

Griffin Patton, Grayslake North (Ill.) 

Patton scored 10 goals in the Knights’ 21-8 win over Glenbrook South (Ill.) on March 23. The senior attackman and Lindenwood commit has 12 goals and six assists to help Glenbrook South to a 3-0 start.

Tyler Bradbury, Oak Park (Calif.)

The sophomore tallied six goals to lead Oak Park to a 13-11 win over Westlake (Calif.) on March 21, including three in the fourth quarter. The Eagles trailed by six at halftime but Bradbury’s performance helped spark the second-half comeback.
