The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. Make it Epoch

Northeast

Alex Calkins, Christian Brothers Academy (N.Y.)

The senior finished with five goals and an assist as CBA claimed its first state with a 12-5 win over Westlake (N.Y.) in the Class D championship. Calkins is headed to the University of Michigan. He finished his senior season with 77 goals and 50 assists.

Mid-Atlantic

Zach Augustine, Avon Grove (Pa.)

The sophomore attackman scored in double overtime Saturday to give Avon Grove a 5-4 win over Conestoga (Pa.) in the PIAA 3A final for their first Pennsylvania state title. Augustine took a pass from Brendan Harman on the move and quickly buried the shot in close. The victory avenged a loss in the District 1 championship three weeks ago. Augustine, an Air Force recruit, finished with a goal and an assist in the final and also scored twice in a 7-5 semifinal win over Central Bucks East (Pa.).

Midwest

Cameron Gould, Brother Rice (Mich.)

Gould scored the game-winning goal in the Michigan Division I state championship to preserve Brother Rice’s 13-year streak of state titles. He finished with four goals in the 8-7 win over Detroit Central Catholic. The junior has a verbal commitment to High Point.
