Unbeaten Episcopal Academy (Pa.) out of Philadelphia and New Jersey frontrunner Ridgewood (N.J.) have moved into the top five of the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25.

Episcopal, led by U.S. U19 training team member Olivia Dirks (pictured), is up to No. 4 in the national rankings and No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic region on the strength of a 14-0 start.

Ridgewood’s ascent to No. 5 comes with its victory over perennial national power Moorestown (N.J.).

McDonogh (Md.), under first-year coach Taylor Cummings, has reasserted itself as the team to beat in the mighty IAAM, going undefeated to date. The Eagles thus retained their No. 1 status, followed by Manhasset (N.Y.), whose only loss is to McDonogh.

This is the second of four monthly updates to the rankings, including Regional Top 10 lists for teams representing the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West. The third update will be June 11.

4. Darien (Conn.), 10-2

Like she does every year, coach Lisa Lindley is challenging her team with one of the most difficult schedules in the country. Darien’s two losses are to opponents ranked just ahead of it, as Manhasset and Eastport-South Manor both secured one-goal wins over the Blue Wave. Darien earned a 11-10 win over New Canaan on May 4, as Sarah Jaques scored five goals to help the Blue Wave avenge last season’s loss to New Canaan in the state semifinals. Previous: 3

The Tigers have some solid wins to offset four tough one-goal losses. Most notably, they earned a huge win over rival St. Stephen & St. Agnes.
